Our Celtic Roots

Ruthven Park National Historic Site is a serene 1,500‑acre property in Cayuga, ON, set along the Grand River.

The Thompson family, former residents of the estate, embraced their roots from Scotland. Nearby, the once‑bustling town of Indiana was home to many Irish immigrants who worked along the canal, communities whose stories remain part of our landscape today.

To honour this heritage, we host our annual Celtic Festival, featuring live music, historic demonstrations, highland cows, and mansion tours. It’s a lively celebration of all Celtic traditions.

Scottish Cream Tea

Warm, locally baked scones, lively Celtic jigs, and a touch of Highland charm come together for a cozy Scottish escape. Enjoy clotted cream and a curated selection of teas, from a bold Scottish Breakfast to fragrant Earl Grey or soothing herbal blends. This Scottish Cream Tea experience invites you to slow down, savour, and enjoy a simple, comforting taste of the Highlands.

This purchase includes entry for one adult to the festival and cream tea experience.

Pre‑registration is required for the sit‑in experience.

Take‑Away Cream Teas will be available in person at our “To‑Go” station just outside the café. All takeaway is first‑come, first‑served while supplies last.
