Family Day Weekend

On Saturday, February 17th 2024 Ruthven Park will be hosting bird banding demonstrations, drop in activity and house tours of the main level of the mansion. This is a free event with historic house tour admission being a ‘give what you can donation’.

Hours: 8am - 3pm

Bird Banding Demonstrations: 8am - 12pm

Historic Mansion Tours: 11am - 3pm (every 30 minutes)

Ruthven Park will be open on Monday, February 19th 2024 for Family Day! A drop in activity will be located at the Welcome Centre. Gift Shop and Welcome Centre will be open 10am - 3pm, mansion tours will be available 11am to 3pm. This is a free event with historic house tour admission being a ‘give what you can donation’.

Reflecting on January

Winter Bird Count 2024

Thank you to everyone who attended our winter bird count on Saturday, January 6th 2024! It was a great day for counting the birds on site and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves. In total we amassed 30 different species and 632 individuals!

Robbie Burns Supper

On January 25th 2024, Ruthven Park celebrated its second annual Robbie Burns Supper event. Seating was expanded to accommodate the high level of interest and welcomed 75 guests into the historic Coach House for an evening of music, highland dancing and a catered dinner. The Coach House was decorated by Sash & Garland with a nod to the highlands of Scotland. Guests enjoyed listening to a traditional bagpipe performance by local talent Landon Italiano and a recitation of the Address to a Haggis poem and Selkirk Grace by Andy Mitchell. Ruthven Park welcomed back fiddle and acoustic duo Alana & Leigh Cline and enjoyed a special highland dance performance from Sandra Bald Jones Highland Dance Studio performer Caitlin. A fabulous dinner with Scottish fare was provided by Debb's Cuisine on Queen. The mansion was exhibited to share the Thompson's connection to Scotland and some famous Scottish traditions such as Hogmanay and listening to one of Burns' most famous works Auld Lang Syne. We would like to thank our sponsors FirstOntario Insurance Brokers and Bruce & Laurie MacDonald and the staff and volunteers who made this event possible. We look forward to bringing the Highlands back to Ruthven Park January 2025!
